June 2025 marked the beginning of something truly special.
It started with my birthday on June 1st—let’s just say it was a milestone I’m still learning to say out loud (50/10 has a nicer ring to it!). But the real celebration came when we set off to welcome Eddie, our German shepherd puppy, into our lives.
From the moment those tiny paws stepped into our world, she’s brought nothing but joy, chaos, and unconditional love. With her big heart and even bigger personality, Eddie has transformed our days in the most beautiful way.
This post is a little tribute to her first seven months—and the unforgettable journey we’ve shared so far.
Why Eddie? A Name with Sass, Sentiment, and a Big Heart
Her name might raise an eyebrow—especially for a girl—but there’s a bit of tradition behind it. All our female German Shepherds have proudly carried boyish names: Georgie, Danni, Toni…
so Eddie fits right in.
But there’s another reason this particular name felt just right.
Absolutely Fabulous.

Yes, that Absolutely Fabulous—the iconic TV comedy series.
With my 40–60-a-day smoking habit (don’t judge!), I’ve often been lovingly nicknamed Patsy—after Joanna Lumley’s gloriously outrageous character. So when our newest bundle of joy arrived, it only made sense to name her after Patsy’s equally fabulous partner-in-chaos: Edina, played by Jennifer Saunders.
And so, with tiny paws and a big heart, our girl became Eddie—a name full of personality, legacy, and just the right amount of fabulous.

The past seven months have been nothing short of a whirlwind.
Eddie has grown faster than we ever imagined—and without a doubt, she’s the most intelligent German Shepherd we’ve ever had (and we’ve had quite a few!). Her mind is razor-sharp, her instincts are remarkable, and her personality? Pure joy.
Despite her impressive size, she’s still very much a baby. We often forget that, until she curls up with her paws tucked under her or gives us that wide-eyed puppy look. But don’t be fooled—she’s full of energy, keeps up the pace with ease, and has even taught Alasdair a few of her favourite games.
It’s been a beautiful dance of learning, playing, and bonding.
Eddie’s big heart shines through in everything she does—from her gentle cuddles to her mischievous grin. Watching Eddie the GSD puppy grow has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.
